Drinking plenty of water, 10-12 glasses (2 and a half to 3 litres), is one of the best tonics for clear, healthy skin. Ideally, youngsters should drink two glasses of warm water first thing in the morning. This helps flush out toxins and clean the digestive tract.
One of the major causes of acne is an excess of oil and fat in the diet. So try cutting down on fatty foods like fried snacks, chips, namkeen, chocolates, ice-cream, mittai and pastries. Instead, make salads and fruits essential ingredients of your daily menu. They are foods rich in fibre, which reduce fat absorption into the body and also help in burning extra calories. They are also important sources of vitamins and minerals, which add that extra glow to the skin. Improve height
At this age it is important that you get sufficient energy from carbohydrate-rich foods like chapati, rice, bread, vegetables and fruits, and a good supply of protein-rich foods like milk, egg, dals and pulses, poultry and fish. And though style trends demand that people remain slim, teenagers should be careful about the extent of harm they do to their bodies in achieving these figures. If you skip meals or cut down on meal quantity, growth will be irrevocably stunted.
To maintain an ideal body weight, eat regular, balanced meals that are low on fat-content. Teens should, ideally, drink at least three glasses milk a day, as this provides them with the calcium and protein required to strengthen bones and muscles. If you find drinking milk difficult, substitute it with curd.

Hair loss
Hair loss among teenagers usually occurs when there is a protein or calcium deficiency, unless there are other medical problems. The best treatment is to consume at least three (600 ml) glasses of low fat or skimmed milk/curd daily. Also ensure that breakfast, lunch and dinner contain some protein food, namely milk, egg, dal, pulses or nonvegetarian foods like meat and fish.
