HIGH FAT DIET UPS LIVER DISEASE RISK IN OFFSPRING

Imagine your child having a liver problem because of your consumption of food with high fat. Hard to believe, right! Researchers at the University of Southampton have found that a high fat diet during pregnancy increases the chances of the offspring developing liver disease in adulthood. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a condition associated with obesity and caused by the build up of fat in the liver. Until recently, it was considered rare and relatively harmless, but now, it is one of the most common forms of liver disease.

Professor Christopher Byrne from the University of Southampton  explained that the research showed that too much saturated fat in a mothers diet can affect the developing liver of a fetus, making it more susceptible to developing fatty liver disease later in life. An unhealthy saturated fat-enriched diet in the child and young adult compounds the problem further causing a severe form of the fatty liver disease later in adult life.

So next time when you think of eating those meals with high fat content, Think again my dear friends.
